This looks like an incredibly solid build. I’d honestly rather have this than an E39 M5!

Crackpipe. Nobody is going to pay 18 grand for that

Really really nice looking but unfortunately that price is just too much. Definitely cool and a labor of love but that love doesn’t translate to $$$ unfortunately. There will be someone who will jump on it but certainly not many at that price.

I paid 2250 euros for my E39 wagon with a manual. Of course, it’s a 2.0L turbodiesel and only has 5 forward gears, but whatevs.

Was the 540i touring not available with a manual from the factory in north america?
If so it dashes my hopes of ever owning one.
$18,500? Maybe in Vancouver, in Canadian dollars... but not my dollars.
5 grand Canadian and we’ll talk.

Slide an S62 into it then NP, but at that price I’ll take my 18.5k and buy an E39 M5. Actually I’d buy an E34 M5, but that’s cause I already have a 4 door V8 M car.

my guess, this would sell for about $12.5k

I owned an E39M5 and it was probably the best car I’ve owned. But this build sounds great, I’d happy rock this instead.

That’s the problem with project cars, people always want some ROI. What they always fail to realize though is a car always drops in values, and while his car may be rare, a non-stock car is worth even less.

Tried to write this before but got Kinja’d ... 13 year old German car for $18.5 grand, over 100K miles, now I enter a phone booth and slip into my asshole costume ... I’m thinking nothing over 14K, and I’d insist on a PPI by a BMW mechanic.
